SAFE PIERCING

THE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL PIERCERS

19 notes

I have my septum pierced, and i’m going to a dentist checkup soon. i was wondering, if its just a dental cleaning and not an xray, do i have to take my piercing out? and if it is also an xray should i take it out? i’m scared to cause i just got it done in jan, so i dont want it closing up.

If you’re not getting x-rays there will be no reason to remove the jewelry, or even disclose to your dentist that you have it pierced. If you are getting x-rays your dentist will tell you if it needs to be removed, oftentimes the jewelry can remain in unless they’re specifically checking for something in the area of your upper front teeth.

Here’s an xray from my last dentist visit featuring my lovely bvla septum clicker.
